when i write to you
i write at night and
i wear three jackets
and i write outside
for hours at a time.
there is a man down
the street who reads
things in the morning.
he wears five coats.
i always stop when
i walk past and say
for a moment hi. it
adds up to hours.
time is funny. you’re
younger, he’s older and
decades are worn like coats,
moments like things i wrote.
